The Hoosiers

Brit Award nominees The Hoosiers headlined the outdoor uLive stage at SBUK 2008.

With a sell out tour well under way and half a million albums sold the Hoosiers were an easy choice to headline the inaugral Spring Break UK and they certainly didn’t disappoint.

As the sun set on the second day of the festival, their unique brand of ‘odd-pop’ music had the SBUK revelers jumping around for joy.

The Cut Up Boys

The Cut Up Boys smashed BCM apart at the 2008 opening party.

Who are the Cut Up Boys?...Only the best mash-up producers / djs in the world! At least that’s what BBC Radio 1 thought when they were searching high and low for the right people to put together mash-up mixes for Dave Pearces drivetime show. Once they heard what South Coast producers/djs Matt Brooks and Nick Barnes were up to all other plans were dropped, they were onto something very special and they knew it - their faith now being royally rewarded by the truly phenomenal reaction to what became “The Cut Up Mix” on R1 every Thursday at 7.30pm.

flirt! Closing Party

Everybody flirts (sometimes) and Unions across the land are running flirt! nights to the undisguised delight of all who attend.

There’s always music; there’s always a drink and there are always people: students who are up for a laugh, maybe a bit of a flirt but, above all, want a great night out.

Surely the best flirt! night ever held was the closing party of SBUK 2008 at BCM in Mallorca. The students packed themselves in wearing beach party themed clothes …. preparing to be drenched in foam once Dick & Dom (Radio 1) and the Vengaboys had done their thing!

The Vengaboys

The Vengaboys Live has been the most popular act to hit the student circuit this year so we had to get them out to SBUK. They starred at the flirt! closing party alongside Dick & Dom and sent the SBUK students into raptures!

Dance-pop troupe the Vengaboys was originally formed by Spanish DJs Danski and Delmundo, who performed live under the name between 1992 and 1996, additionally scoring a handful of underground club hits. During the summer of 1996 the duo was joined by singers/dancers Kim, Robin, Roy and Denice, all of whom became full-time members of the group; with Danski and Delmundo locked in the studio, the four vocalists toured Europe under the Vengaboys name, followed in 1997 by the release of the single "Up and Down." The follow-up "We Like to Party! (The Vengabus)" appeared in 1998, shortly trailed by the full-length The Party Album. The single "Kiss When the Sun Don't Shine" followed in early 2000.

Dick & Dom

Dick & Dom are DJing at the flirt! closing party in Mallorca.

All Dick and Dom ever wanted was to be children’s BBC presenters and work for Radio 1

Back in the days when they were Richard and Dominic, they met in the broom cupboard at children’s BBC as teenagers, doing TV links between the programmes.

They bought their first pair of decks with their CBBC salary and learned how to mix by listening to Judge Jules and Dance Anthems at all possible times.

Then Dick And Dom In Da Bungalow sprouted where they rioted around on Saturday mornings with Melvin Odoom. The nutty kids' show made these two famous.

Dick & Dom can now be heard Live on Radio 1 every Sunday morning from 10am until 1pm.

Brandon Block

Brandon played alongside The Cut Up Boys and EZ at the SBUK opening party. He is probably one of, if not the most entertaining and unique DJ and personality you'll ever find. He's best known for his uplifting party house music behind the decks, and his infamous havoc causing antics on the other side of the turntables. Brandon's taste is eclectic and when it comes to pleasing the dance floor, he will play anything that will move the crowd.

The Hat Club

One of the highlights of Spring Break was the sun drenched Hat Club boat party.

The simple ideas are often the best! Since 2004 Hat Club have been organising gatherings of beautiful people who like to wear hats ….. especially whilst dancing to house music.

Spring Break UK were delighted for them to host just such a gathering with us on a boat in Mallorca.
